Straight answer
Who it was built for, and who should use something else.
Every app says yes on its own website. This one names the person it was made for, the people who count themselves out for no reason, and the ones who are genuinely better off somewhere else.

Who it is for
Heavier lifts, a better score, more to show for the time you put in. Trainlike keeps every workout pointed at that.
01
Heavier bar, more reps, a higher score. Trainlike keeps a running read on every lift, so progress is something you can point at.
02
Four workouts can outwork six when each one lands. Your targets come from what your last sets actually showed.
03
The weight and the reps are set before you walk in, so you start working instead of working it out. No mental arithmetic between sets.
04
Which lifts are climbing and which have gone quiet, so you can put the effort where it is paying off.
05
Every grade, verdict and record opens into the sets behind it. No black box, so the call stays yours.
06
Not data piling up. Records that keep the set that earned them, and a score that moves when the bar moves.
You do the training. The app does the numbers.
Everything else on this page is detail.
Also for you
These four come up constantly, and every one of them is a bad reason to walk away.
“I am a beginner.”
Then this is the cheapest experience you will ever buy. Answer a few questions and you get a starter plan built around your goals and equipment, with the first workout scheduled. It tells you what is next, what to lift, and whether it went well. That is the part most people guess at for a year.
“I do not run a real program.”
Going in and doing what you feel like still leaves a record. Log four weeks and you have a Strength Score, your records, and a read on where your training has tilted. Bring a program later, or never.
“I only train three days a week.”
That is who this was built for. When the week has hard edges, the only lever left is whether the workouts you do get are productive. That is the whole job of the app.
“I train at home with two dumbbells.”
Fine. 650+ exercises filtered by the equipment you actually own, and the plate calculator works off your own bar and plates. Sets and reps are sets and reps.
Not for you
Three of them, and where something else does the job, it is named.
Trainlike grades what you did and decides what you lift next, so if you only want your sets written down, most of it goes unused.
Instead: Hevy or Strong. Hevy also has the feed and the following list.
Your days will look different from each other, but what is inside them stays put, because you cannot measure progress on a lift you never repeat.
Instead: Fitbod builds a fresh workout every time and rotates your exercises.
Time and distance work gets logged and kept, but the grade, the records and the Strength Score are all built out of sets and weight.
Instead: SugarWOD or Wodify for CrossFit, Strava for running.
Trainlike 2.0, checked 26 August 2026. If we ship something that makes one of these wrong, it comes off the list.
How it works
One loop, run every workout. The FAQ and the user guide go deeper if you want the detail before you decide.
01
Bring your routine, import your workout history, or start with a plan built for you. Log your sets, reps, and weight.
02
Get a grade that shows how your workout compares to your recent training, with the sets behind it.
03
Walk into your next workout knowing what to aim for. Your targets are already set from what you lifted.
