Rest timer
Automatic countdowns, the timer bar, and your Lock Screen.
Complete a set and the rest timer starts by itself. A compact bar sits at the bottom of the workout with the countdown, −15 and +15 to tune it, and Skip to move on early. When time is up, you get a bell, even with the app closed.
It also knows when not to run: inside a superset, rest waits for the last exercise of the round, and no rest starts before a drop set.
Set your durations
- Settings → Default Rest Timer sets the app-wide rest.
- Each exercise can override it: the Rest Timer row at the top of the exercise’s card sets it for that lift alone. Heavy squats and lateral raises should not share a clock.
- Warm-up Rest Timer is separate, so ramp sets keep things moving.
Outside the app
The whole workout lives in a Live Activity on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island: during rest, the countdown with −15s, +15s, and Skip; between rests, the workout clock and a Done button for the current set, no unlock needed. On the watch, rest gets a tap on the wrist and a chime. More in Widgets and Live Activities.
Pick your bell
Settings → Rest Timer Sound changes the alert sound. If alerts feel inconsistent, check the mute switch and whether your watch is catching them as a tap on the wrist.
