Rep schemes and targets
Straight, pyramid, reverse pyramid, and rep range targets.
How your sets relate to each other is a choice, and Trainlike models the three classic shapes. During a workout, set the Rep Scheme from the exercise’s … menu (it appears for weighted lifts when prefill is in Progression mode, and it sticks to that exercise everywhere it shows up):
- Straight Sets: same weight, same reps, every set. The default, and the right answer most of the time.
- Pyramid: weight climbs while reps fall, topping out on the last set.
- Reverse Pyramid: heaviest set first while you are fresh, then the weight comes down as reps go up.
Targets follow the shape
Prefill understands the scheme you run. On sloped schemes, progression judges you on the set that matters: when the load is ready to move, the verdict chip carries a TOP SET prefix (“TOP SET +5 LBS”), the prescription anchors to your top set, and the other sets ladder around it.
Rep ranges
A routine can prescribe a range instead of a number: the routine editor shows it under RANGE, and during the workout it prints right under the REPS column. Work inside the range; when you top it out, that is the signal the weight is ready to move. This is double progression, and the verdicts speak it natively.
No range in the routine? The exercise falls back to its own Rep Range (set from the same … menu), and failing that, the app-wide default in Settings → Prefill Values, 8-12 unless you change it.
