Exercises
Custom exercises
Create your own exercises and track them like any other.
Your gym’s weird cable machine deserves real tracking too. Custom exercises are first-class citizens: they get history, records, charts, and progression exactly like built-ins, and they back up to iCloud so a new phone gets them too.
Create one
- On the Exercises tab (or any exercise picker), search the name and tap Create, or use the add button.
- Set the Equipment and Body Part, so filters, volume, and recovery know where its sets should count.
- Pick the Exercise Type: weights, bodyweight, assisted bodyweight, duration, or distance. This decides which fields its set rows show, and it locks once you have logged workouts with it, so history never splits.
- Optionally add a photo. For non-barbell weights exercises, flag Loaded with plates if the plate calculator should serve it (barbells get it automatically).
Nothing is final: a photo can be added later from the exercise’s detail screen, and a long press on a custom in the library offers Edit and Archive.
Where customs show up
They live under CUSTOM EXERCISES in the library, appear in every picker, and can headline routines, supersets, and Exercise Insights. When importing history, anything your old app had that Trainlike does not becomes a custom, with a review step to fix the name and details first.
